Athlete Spotlight - Kennedy Blair

School: Whitwell High School

Sport: Volleyball

Favorite Bible Verses: Jeremiah 29:11, Song of Soloman 4:7, Psalm 139:17-18

Favorite Hobby: Hanging out with friends

Which person from the Bible would you like to meet and why? I would definitely choose Jesus. It would just be great to be in His presence and to be able to ask Him questions about His life and things He experienced.

Who inspires you and why? Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego because of their amazing faith and obedience to God. They refused to bow before another idol and I think that something we should do every single day. They stayed strong even through the fire. We should be more like them by denying this world, denying ourselves, and being more like Jesus everyday. "Then He said to them all: 'Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross daily and follow Me.'" Luke 9:23

Favorite sports memory: Being down 2 sets to none against our rival this year and coming back to beat them 3-2 and breaking my personal goal by getting 30 digs in that game

How has FCA influenced your school/team? FCA has definitely impacted a lot of people at my school. It has helped us all grow closer to each other and most importantly, closer to Christ.

What does FCA mean to you? FCA has helped me grow and mature in my walk with the Lord. It has also helped me build relationships with people that I know I can always count on to say a prayer for me, give me words of encouragement, and just overall point me towards Jesus in every situation. I will forever be grateful for FCA and the awesome relationships it has helped me build with other athletes/leaders.

FCA Staff Rep, Laura O'Dell says: Kennedy is a student-athlete who stands out as being completely on fire for God. Her leadership has helped Whitwell's FCA huddle grow significantly this year and she is always looking for ways to serve others, whether through FCA, her church, or at her school.

Staff Spotlight - Tess Brandon

Schools you attended: Bradley HS, University of Alabama-Huntsville

Sport: Basketball, soccer

Favorite Bible Verse: Ephesians 2:4-7

Favorite Hobbies: Outdoors and guitar

Which person from the Bible would you like to meet and why? David - I would love to learn the art of simply loving God the way he did.

Who inspires you and why? My husband, Zach Brandon. I've never met anyone with such characteristics of Christ. I learn from him daily.

How did you first get involved with FCA? I came to a real relationship with Christ through FCA camp in June 2005.

What does FCA mean to you? The Lord used FCA to save me; now I use FCA to worship Him. Words cannot describe how blessed I am for FCA. The Lord has given me an opportunity to live my dream through this ministry, and that is simply sharing with younger girls the beauty and pleasures of abiding in Christ and receiving His love.

FCA Area Director, Jay Fowler says: Tess is a very effective ministry leader who loves Jesus and loves sharing Christ with athletes and coaches. I am thrilled she is on our staff team.
